Reading a launch record

What does "Free," "Fee applies," or "Fee — confirm locally" mean on a launch?

"Free" means the record’s reported launch fee is $0. "Fee applies" means a paid fee has been reported for that launch. "Fee — confirm locally" means no fee value has been confirmed for that record yet. Fees can also change without notice, so confirm the current rate at the launch or with the operator before you tow.

What does "source-confirmed" or "mapped coordinate" mean?

A source-confirmed location has its coordinates checked against an independent mapping source (OpenStreetMap). A mapped coordinate that has not been source-confirmed is an approximate location and should be treated as a starting point, not an exact pin — confirm the access point locally.

Why do some launches show "Check depth" or "Parking varies"?

Depth and parking capacity are not confirmed for every record. "Check depth" means deep-V hull suitability has not been confirmed for that launch. "Parking varies" means a specific trailer-spot count has not been reported. Treat both as unknown, not as a negative.

Are the wind, wave, and water-level figures shown for a launch guaranteed accurate?

No. Conditions shown on ramp pages are modelled planning aids from public wind, wave, and water-level sources. They are not launch clearance and are not a substitute for the official marine forecast or a local observation before you launch.

How do I confirm details locally or report a correction?

Call the municipality or operator listed for the launch, or use the Submit a Boat Ramp Update page to report a correction, hazard, or missing launch. Corrections are reviewed and applied to the record.
