Launch-day compliance check

Most recreational boats with one or more engines totalling at least 10 hp (7.5 kW) require a Pleasure Craft Licence unless federally registered. Display its number on both sides of the bow in block characters at least 7.5 cm (3-inch) high, in a colour that contrasts with the hull. Small Vessel Regulations s.11 · Canada Shipping Act

  • At least 7.5 cm (3-inch) block characters
  • Both sides of the bow — not just one
  • Colour contrasts with hull (not matching)
  • Legible — not faded, peeling or obscured

Before towing

Verify bow markings before launch

Check size, placement, contrast, and legibility while the boat is still on the trailer.

Boating safety

A pin on a map isn’t a launch plan.

Ontario ramps change with water level, weather, season and traffic. Pair the directory with the safety guides before every trip — especially with kids, new boaters, paddlers, or cold water.

Every trip still needs weather, equipment, and local ramp checks. We make the first three easy.
